Faculty - Professional Managerial Employment Status:
Regular, full-time, 12-month Continuation of this position is contingent on funding by the Department of Corrections.
As conditions of employment, candidate must submit to and pass a background investigation, including a drug test, conducted by the Illinois Department of Corrections.
During employment, employee is subject to random drug testing.
Position also requires participation in a forty-hour Department of Corrections Pre-Service Training Session, which may require travel.
Position is subject to all Department of Corrections policies, rules, and regulations.
Function:
To perform instructional and related duties in Kaskaskia's Commercial Cooking educational program located at the Centralia Correctional Center.
Organizational Relationship:
Faculty member reports to the Director of CCC Educational Programs, who reports to the Dean of Career and Technical Education, who reports to the VP of Instructional Services, who reports to the College President.
Qualifications for the Position Required:
Certification(s), experience, education, and/or a combination related to culinary/cooking Two or more years of experience in food service Possess a Servsafe Manager's Certification along with a Servsafe Instructor's Certification or be able to obtain those certifications within three months of hire Commitment to community college mission and philosophy Excellent communication, organization, planning, and presentation skills Willingness and ability to teach students in a correctional facility setting Maintain professionalism and work with Illinois Department of Corrections and Kaskaskia College in an effective and positive manner Preferred:
1.
Associate's degree or higher in field or closely related field 2.
Community college teaching experience 3.
Restaurant management experience 4.
Knowledge of food preparation techniques, nutritional requirements, and cost control
Essential Functions:
1.
Perform instructional duties in a correctional facility setting 2.
Prepare or update syllabi and curriculum materials as needed for all courses in which the faculty member has instructional responsibilities.
3.
Schedule classroom with lab and work experience activities to meet student learning outcomes and provide the student with the necessary skills and knowledge for job placement 4.
Attend and participate in faculty and committee meetings, sponsorship of student activities and other College activities as requested 5.
Prepare reports as required.
6.
Participate in commencement exercises at the Centralia Correctional Center (CCC) and main campus.
7.
Cooperate with the Correctional Center Program Director to effectively resolve student problems 8.
Recommend textbooks and equipment, which the instructor deems necessary in instructional assignments.
9.
Perform assessment of student learning and participate in College wide assessment program.
10.
Perform program review.
11.
Report absences from assigned responsibilities promptly to the Correctional Center Program Director.
12.
Maintain attendance, classroom records and EGCC (Earned Good Conduct Credit) for all students assigned to the program.
13.
Comply with all tool control procedures as prescribed by IDOC 14.
Maintain inventory and control of flammable and caustics 15.
Ensure equipment is kept in proper working condition and report any damage in a timely manner 16.
Maintain program budget and provide input to the Correctional Center Program Director regarding spending.
17.
Submit purchase order requests for instructional materials, books, required commodities and supplies to the Director for approval 18.
Prior to release, serve as a mentor to students on continuing College program opportunities after release 19.
Keep up-to-date on current trends, technologies, and information in subject area.
20.
Ensure adequate enrollment levels in instructional program.
21.
Perform other related duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibility:
Supervise teacher's assistant(s) as necessary.
Supervisory Controls:
Employee is required to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision.
Guidelines:
Employee is expected to follow all College and IDOC policies and procedures as well as all local state and federal laws.
Faculty member is also expected to adhere to and foster development of Kaskaskia College core values of compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility and fairness.

Personal Relationships:
Employee will have daily contact with students, individuals in custody and other College and Correctional Center employees.
Contracts with the community may also be made.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Duties will be performed in a secure prison setting, which requires strict adherence to rules, procedures, and policies.
Travel within the College district, as well as occasional overnight travel is required as necessary.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$52,000.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
